Malice Manor Haunted Attraction Review

Recently, I had the pleasure of going through one of Southern Indiana's scariest haunted attractions, Malice Manor. Now, I have been to the Manor before, and Lord Rancor is no stranger to your ol' ghastly ghoul pal, GG Grotesque.

For those who may not know, Malice Manor has been haunting its guests for over seven seasons and has continued to grow and evolve with each passing year. Located in Southern Indiana, this haunt has built a reputation for delivering a fast-paced, high-scare experience that focuses on keeping guests moving while throwing scares at them from every direction.

This haunt is one of those shorter, adrenaline-filled experiences that doesn't waste time. It gets you in, grabs your attention, and immediately starts throwing scares your way. While some attractions rely heavily on their size, Malice Manor proves that a haunt doesn't have to be enormous to leave an impression. A well-timed scare, creative characters, and passionate actors can go a long way.

The owners are incredibly friendly, and after the walkthrough I had the opportunity to shake hands and speak with them and the manager for a bit. One thing that immediately stood out to me was how much passion they have for the attraction and the community surrounding it. You could tell that this isn't just a business to them; it is something they genuinely enjoy creating for their guests.

I know Malice Manor has a lot planned for the upcoming 2026 haunt season, and they have already been teasing some really interesting updates to their attraction. Now, let's talk about the walkthrough in general.

I am not going to give a traditional rating on this haunt, as per status quo, off-season events can be extremely difficult. Finding actors, creating the right atmosphere, and getting customers through the door can be challenging even for established attractions. With that being said, I could immediately tell that Malice Manor had a true family atmosphere behind the scenes. Their crew really came together to put on a great show for everyone who entered.

One thing I was extremely grateful for was the lack of generic acting lines. Even actors who may not have been seasoned performers or veterans in the haunt industry were able to avoid the typical "fresh meat" style interactions that can sometimes take guests out of the experience. Instead, the actors leaned into their characters, improvised, and created moments that felt unique.

The overall theme followed a summer vacation gone horribly wrong, filled with cursed characters, dangerous encounters, and some absolutely ridiculous moments involving jellyfish stings and underwater horrors. That theme carried throughout the attraction and created a fun, unique atmosphere.

One of my favorite scenes was the underwater area. I have always been a fan of underwater-themed haunt scenes because they are not something you see done often. Malice Manor's large shark puppet was a fantastic addition and really helped sell the scene. It was one of those moments where you could tell someone had a vision and put effort into bringing it to life.

Our journey started with the rules of the house before my cameraman and I were sent into the attraction. We traveled a short distance into the haunt where we were introduced to the story and theme that would set the mood for the rest of the night.

The acting in this opening scene was fantastic, and if I were handing out an award for actor of the night, this performer would definitely be in the running. Right at the peak of their performance, an animated picture screamed almost perfectly in tandem with the actor, creating a really fun and memorable moment.

As we continued through the attraction, we were unexpectedly attacked by super soaker water guns from monsters hiding around corners and popping out of every boo hole the haunt had available. This was honestly one of the biggest surprises of the night.

The entire thing caught me completely off guard and had me laughing throughout the experience. Sometimes haunted attractions just need a little extra flair to make an event stand out, especially during off-season events. Malice Manor definitely found a way to bring something unique to the table and make the experience memorable.

And yes... they definitely found a way to "water down" the competition. (See what I did there? Heh.)

Of course, not every scene was focused on the water antics. There were plenty of areas where the haunt shifted gears and allowed the characters to shine. We encountered creatures trying to convince us to eat meat, characters demanding our skin, and several unsettling interactions that gave the actors room to really perform.

Those moments were some of the strongest parts of the walkthrough because they showed the heart behind the attraction. Even the little creature in the water scene who was absolutely going ham, shaking the ropes and screaming at me the entire time, showed the amount of energy and enthusiasm the actors were bringing.

You could tell that a lot of heart was poured into this event.

My only real disappointment was that I wish Malice Manor had received more love from the surrounding community during the event. This attraction is a hidden gem, and it deserved a much larger crowd and a packed queue line. I cannot stress that enough.

Malice Manor has something special. It has passionate owners, dedicated actors, creative scenes, and a willingness to try things that make the experience stand out. I am excited to return for the 2026 haunt season and see what new frights they have waiting for their guests.
